Oh yes, at Winzum our focus isn’t simply on running online competitions, anyone can do that. What we really want is to foster an online competition community that is about much more than just prizes! It’s why we started our Winzum Tech Radar series, to help you lovely lot find out about some of the best cutting edge technology around these days. This week we explore Home & Dry, a relatively simple app that could change your life!
What is Home & Dry?
Home & Dry is essentially a weather app, however it is by far the most accurate and detailed weather app around at the moment, capable of giving real-time updates on whether or not it is going to rain, for how long, and how strong. It does this via showing you a satellite cloud image, and then using computer modelling to predict the future.
Home & Dry isn’t for looking at the weather several days into the future, but it is absolutely critical if you are planning what to do within the next 24 or 48 hours. The app is mainly for use across the UK and Europe, and is well worth the very small fee of £2.99.
Why choose Home & Dry?
Have you ever checked a conventional weather forecast just before a dog walk or pub garden session, and then been disappointed as a load of rain that wasn’t mentioned starts falling? Well, this is the main reason why you should choose Home & Dry, because with this app you’ll never be surprised by any sudden weather shifts.
The Home & Dry cloud imagery is at a 1km resolution and shown at 5 minute intervals, which is by far the highest quality of any weather app available. All it takes is a short gander at the app to stay ahead of the curve, whether you’re walking the dog, at a festival, heading to work, or taking the kids to school!
How to get the most use out of Home & Dry
The best way to get the most use out of Home & Dry is simply to remember it’s there, and get into a habit of checking the app as you plan an outside excursion. It also pays off to have the app in the minimum 5 minute interval setting, just so you don’t miss any quick changes to the weather.
Home & Dry cannot change the weather of course, but it gives you the essential tools needed to at least make sure you are prepared
