How do you start a quiz competition?
Entering something like a general knowledge quiz and subsequently winning it has got to be one of the best feelings on Earth. Not only do you – in most cases – receive a lovely prize, but you can also rest comfortably in the knowledge that your brain really does work pretty damn well.
That last fact goes a long way in explaining the current trend of Buzzfeed quizzes, pub quizzes and the rest, because everybody loves trying to prove their intelligence in a competitive format – it is human nature after all!
The appetite for quiz games is only going to increase, and it got us thinking: what if you guys want to start your own quiz competitions? At Winzum we love to help out whatever it may be, so here is a bit of info on how you might start your own quiz competition.
Find a venue
The first thing to do when trying to devise your own quiz is to decide on where it is going to take place. In the 21st century we have the liberty of being able to do quizzes completely virtually with platforms like Zoom, something that has taken on an increased significance in the post-Covid era.
However, there is nothing like a quiz happening in actual reality, and all the best quiz competitions take place face to face. So, what will the venue be? It could be your living room, or your local village hall; ultimately this is for you to decide!
Devise a set of quiz questions
Next on the agenda is creating a set of quiz questions, because you simply cannot hold a quiz without actually having some quiz questions. Now, it is easy to devise a set of quiz questions without too much thought going into it, however if you really want to start the best quiz competition possible you need to put a bit of effort in.
Many people like to go with a specific theme when creating their quiz questions, for example, as it can make the whole experience a lot more interesting. You can read a lot more on the topic here [how do you make a quiz competition].
Search for a bunch of quiz contestants
What is a quiz without some quiz contestants? Nothing, that’s what. After you have crafted an exciting set of quiz questions it is time to reach out and find yourself an audience!
Friends and family are the best place to look first, however it can also be a good idea to take out an advert in your local paper, pub, or community centre. In fact, the easiest way to find a willing bunch of quiz contestants is to head straight down to the pub!
Source some tantalizing quiz prizes
Obviously you are going to need some quiz prizes to award the eventual victors, and this isn’t something to skimp out on. You see, if people see that you mean business with your quiz prizes they will continue coming back for more, and before too long you will have a successful quiz game series under your belt!
Prizes can come in all shapes and sizes, why not take inspiration from some of our very own Winzum competition prizes? You know you want too…
