How do you make a quiz competition interesting?
At Winzum you might have guessed that we love competitions, but we also have a soft spot for quizzes too, and not just the kind you can find down the pub! Let’s be honest here; everybody loves a quiz, and they have done since the 19th century (you can read more about the history here [a brief history of quizzes]).
One of the best things about quizzes is that they are incredibly inclusive too, with a huge variety of people being able to enjoy them, from school kids to OAPs. Furthermore, anyone can create their own quiz and quiz questions for a spot of good-natured fun! We love to help you out at Winzum, so here are some ways of making a quiz competition as interesting as possible.
Think outside of the box with your quiz questions
We all know how popular things like general knowledge quizzes, trivia quizzes and pub quizzes are these days, so our main piece of advice when thinking up your own quiz questions is to think outside of the box.
Quiz questions simply aren’t going to be very interesting if all the quiz contestants have heard them before, and you might also find that everybody is hitting some very high scores too!
Include some interactivity with your quiz questions
Quiz questions do have a tendency to be somewhat pedestrian in their presentation, so why not jazz things up and include some interactivity with your quiz questions? Think of popular games such as charades, for instance, there is so much scope with quiz questions if you think creatively!
At Winzum we love board games like Cranium or Articulate!, and it is easier than you might think to incorporate influences from these things into your quiz questions.
Look at some Buzzfeed quizzes for inspiration
Buzzfeed quizzes have become incredibly popular over the last decade or so, as their simple format and appearance has attracted a wide variety of people over a wide demographic. And here’s the thing; nobody is going to tell you off for nabbing a few Buzzfeed quiz questions for your own!
In fact, you don’t even need to be directly taking Buzzfeed quiz questions either, just make sure you take some inspiration from them when devising your own quiz questions.
Set a theme for your quiz questions
Some of the most interesting quizzes are focussed on a particular theme, and this is a great thing to do with your own quiz questions if you want to make a quiz competition as interesting as possible.
There are more than enough specific themes to focus a set of quiz questions on these days. General knowledge quiz questions, trivia quiz questions, film quiz questions, music quiz questions… The list goes on and on!
