Top independent electronic music labels

Music

If you’ve read a little about who we are over at Winzum [who are winzum], you will know that we are an exciting and innovative online competition platform primarily. However, unlike others we are also massively passionate about giving other smaller companies a leg up.

Everyone’s a winner with Winzum after all, and we don’t want that to just translate down to our customers, but the whole online competition community that we are striving to establish. It’s been a tough time for the music industry of late, so we thought that the least we could do is tell you guys about some of our favourite independent electronic music labels.

Southpoint Music

There are few record labels in the UK bass, garage and grime scenes that hold as much relevance and weight as Southpoint. Emerging almost half a decade ago now, their relentless ethic and genuine insistence on nurturing new artists around them has seen the label grow massively in a relatively short space of time. In co-founder KXVU’s own words, ‘the original mission for Southpoint was to bring a sense of musical community back to Brighton, putting us back on the map around the UK’.

Well, Southpoint have done just that, with a core roster of successful artists such as Bushbaby, Movement, Freddie Martin and Cortese that all hail from Brighton too. At Winzum we absolutely love creating genuine online competition communities, something that Southpoint also hold very important with their community based approach to releasing music.

Paradiso Records

As you might expect from the name, Paradiso Records are all about one thing and one thing only – Paradise. Label boss, and also rapidly rising UK DJ REES expands on this – “the philosophy behind the name comes from our admiration of so many different styles of electronic music so we try to display and capture ‘everyone’s idea of music paradise’”. Since their establishment back in 2018 the imprint has consistently released top-tier dance music, varying from darker electro to uplifting house and disco jams.

Paradiso Records are more than simply a musical imprint too, with the master plan being “to have a record label accompanied with a blog/magazine type online website where our fans could read up on our latest music, interviews, artist top 10 picks etc.”. Keep an eye out for these guys if you are into your house, disco and electro!

SINE Audio

The SINE series parties have been a mainstay in London’s thriving drum & bass scene for the last several years, so it was no surprise when the collective decided to launch headfirst into the record label business towards the end of 2019. SINE Audio deals strictly with the underground world of drum & bass, where rumbling low-end combines with gritty drums and a characteristically dark sonic atmosphere.

Their most recent EP featuring young starlet Kin:etic has awarded the label some critical acclaim from many of the biggest names in the modern drum & bass scene. Anyone into their drum & bass should keep their eyes peeled from the consistent heat coming from the SINE Audio camp.

More Time Records

In recent years the underground music scene in the UK has played witness to an incredibly exciting period of musical cross-pollination, with influences being drawn from the captivating energy emanating from the African diaspora and the Caribbean. More Time Records were established in order to continue pushing this exhilarating musical fusion, with label heads Sam Interface (one half of Jus Now) and Ahadadream proving to be instrumental in bringing new artists to the forefront.

More Time Records are unique and special in that they regularly release music by artists from all corners of the globe, placing it firmly in the context of the UK underground and giving them the vital exposure they need to break into the market. It is not all that often that this happens in the UK, so More Time Records should certainly be celebrated!
