What is a comper?
It really does seem as though it has never been easier to win competitions in the 21st century, what with the many ITV competitions, Facebook competitions, Instagram competitions and other online competitions available at the click of a button.

But anyway, did you know that there are people in the modern world who have managed to earn themselves a living simply through entering paid and free online competitions? Oh yes, they call themselves compers – let’s take a better look at what it really means to be a comper.
When did it become possible to be a comper?
There haven’t always been this many paid or free competition to win money and other prizes around, you know. In fact, the modern rise of the comper really does coincide with the emergence of the Internet in the 21st century, as it would have been extremely difficult to enter enough competitions before this.
Sure, there would have been a select few compers before the Internet entering things such as ITV competitions or magazine competitions via telephone or post, however there is no comparison to how thing are now.
How on Earth do you become a comper?
You may not think it at first, but becoming a comper is actually fairly easy. The main thing to do is simply set aside enough time to enter as many competitions as possible. In the 21st century there are genuinely so many to choose from – Winzum competitions (duh), magazine competitions, Tesco competitions, Facebook competitions, Instagram competitions… The list goes on and on!

The positives to being a comper
There are plenty of positives to being a comper in the modern day, mainly because of the outrageous amount of paid and free online competitions available at our fingertips. Life as comper is also fairly relaxed compared to other professions, as you are very much your own boss.

Whilst there are so many positive sides to being a comper these days, it is also incredibly important to consider some of the potential downsides. The most important thing here is to do with data security.
If you are entering countless online competitions a day you really need to make sure that you are not giving away your personal details to nasty companies who will sell it on. At Winzum we have pledged to never ever do this, so we are a good place to start!
